"Pika..." growled Sparx's pikachu. Roxy stared at it, as she backed
away. Sparx walked over, and picked it up. Shaking her head, she said;
"Roxy, don't be afraid of 'im. He's growling because he's hungry!" Despite
Sparx's assurances, Roxy still wasn't too comfortable around Pikachu.
Sparx set out a dish of pokémon food, a dish she hand-cooked from a recipe
given to her from Brock. She sat down on her couch, and as she
stretched her legs, Sparx fingered the T.V. flicker, and chose a channel.
The T.V. screen flicked to the familliar "Teletoon" channel, just in time
for Sparx's favourite comedy, "Duckman". Rated "18+", this show was
obviously not for kids. Sparx's pikachu hopped beside her. Roxy took a
seat in the Lazy-boy, avoiding Pikachu. Sparx noticed this, but said
nothing. "Sparx, who's all going to Psy's little party?" asked Roxy
casually. As she talked, she was fiddling with her hair absentmindedly.
"Well, Psy, Ace, Amy and I are going!" replied Sparx, who didn't take
her eyes off the TV. "Amy? Amy who?" asked Roxy. "A friend of
Psy's!" replied Sparx as she opened a bag of Doritos. She offered some ro
Roxy, who took a handful. Roxy nodded at Sparx's reply to her question.
Sparx began petting her pikachu. It replied with an affectionate
"Pikachuuuuu". Suddenly, the phone rang. Sparx got up and answered it.
Remaining in the living room, Roxy eyed pikachu nervously. Noticing that
someone was watching him, Pikachu jumped into Roxy's lap, and snuggled her
orange and white fur. Unsure of what to do, Roxy merely petted him.
Returning to the living rom, Sparx said; "That was Psy, letting me
know that it's time to leave." she picked up her pokéball, and finally
noticed that her pikachu was cuddling with Roxy, who seemed to be enjoying
it. Sparx held out her pokéball, which was emblazoned with an "H" on it,
and said, "Pikachu, return." A beam of light gently lashed out and
collected pikachu. She pocketed her pokéball, and noticed the sour look on
Roxy's face. "I was just warming up to him..." complained Sparx's
childhood friend. Sparx smiled and said in a mock-deep voice, "Don't
worry, we'll be back!" She waved goodbye, and left the hut. The cool,
crisp night air hit Sparx's face, and she breathed deeply. She lept into
the air, and began to glide toward's Psy's place.
Arriving 30 minutes later, Sparx set down right in front of the door.
Although it was a fairly long glide, Sparx was able to to get there in a
reasonably good time. She reached into her pocket, and was satisfied to
know that she still had her pokéball and chaos emerald. She knocked on the
door, and Psy let her in. She took a quick glance around, and noticed that
everyone was there, everyone except Ace. "Hi Psy, Amy!" Sparx said as
she sat down on the sofa. She noticed some munchies and pop, so she
grabbed a handful of chips and a Pepsi. "Well, the only one missing
is--" started Psycho before there was a swirling puff of smoke accompanied
by a familiar voice; "I am the terror that flaps in the night, I am
the....uh, never mind." said Ace as the smoke dissipated. "...Ace."
continued Psy, almost as if he hadn't been interrupted, "well, now that
everyone is here, I hope that we can get started." "Sounds like a plan
to me!" stated Amy brightly. She picked up a can of Pepsi, opened it, and
started to drink. Sparx noticed an empty coke bottle, with its wrapper
torn off, lying on Psy's kitchen table. Pointing to the bottle, Sparx
joked; "Psy, what's that bottle for, you making a flower display?" Psycho
walked over to the bottle, picked it up, and replied; "Well, for one of
tonight's entertainments, I thought that, even though it's a tad juvenile,
we could play 'Spin the Bottle'." An evil look came across his face. (^_-)
"Spin the bottle, eh?" queried Ace, "Isn't that the game where you
spin a bottle, and whoever the open end points at, you hafta kiss." Psycho
shook his head vigorously; "Yup!" he replied. "Well, erm...uh, let's
get started..." said Sparx, with a touch of nervousness touching her
voice. "What, you chicken?" challenged Amy. "Of course not!"
snapped Sparx as they got up from their seats and sat down in a circle.
Psycho placed the bottle in the middle of the circle. Across from Psy sat
Amy, and across from Sparx sat Ace. So, in a clockwise direction, the
order was Psycho, Sparx, Ace, and Amy. It was Psy's turn to 'spin' first.
He grasped it, spun it, and the bottle spun round and round upon an
invisible axis. It passed Sparx, then Ace, then Amy, then Psycho, then
Sparx, then Ace, then Amy, Psy, Sparx, Ace, Amy, Psy, Sparx, Ace, and it
slowed just enough to stop, with its open end pointing at Amy. Psycho got
up, and planted a kiss on Amy's lips. Sparx watched tentatively as the
kiss was prolonged longer than was necessary. Sparx politely coughed, and
Psy and Amy realized that they had gone on too long. They parted, with
Psycho returning to his seat, blushing. Next, it was Sparx's turn, so she
spun the bottle. It spun, and eventually landed on Ace. Sparx got up and
gave Ace a kiss on the lips. She felt herself losing a little control, and
she kissed harder and longer than intended. She heard an 'ahem' from
Psycho, so she quickly drew back, then sat down. There was an
uncomfortable silence for a couple of minutes. Everyone just stared at the
floor. Realizing that her throat was suddenly very dry, Sparx got up, and
got herself another Pepsi. "Anybody else want some?" she asked as she
gupled down some of her beverage. No one else wanted some, so Sparx sat
down. Realizing that no one was making a move to spin the bottle, Psycho
put it away.
"Ahem, well, uh, onto out next event.." started Psy, "Perhaps we could
watch a movie?...watch TV?....point and lauch at each other's
misfortunes?" he was exasperated. "Actually Psy, I'd like to talk to
you privately." Sparx asked, worry creasing her brows. Psycho nodded, and
they climbed to the upper floor of the house. "Wazzup?" asked Psycho,
clearely concerned. Sparx stepped forward, her mouth opened, then closed,
as if she were unsure on how to word what she was thinking. "Uh, I
noticed how you and Amy were kissing, and..." she started before she saw
Psycho's face contorting with anger. "You're concerned about me and
Amy!!! What about you and Ace???" he shot back. "I suppose that I was
out of place to ask that, considering that I did the same thing, sorry."
said Sparx, crestfallen. Psycho nodded, and grasped Sparx's hand. Sparx
noticed that he looked ashen, like he was about to say something very hard
for him. "Listed Sparx, we've been going out for a few months now, and
we've had a great time. But, our relationship is going nowhere, so I think
it would be best if we broke up." said Psycho. He tightened his grip on
her hand for a moment, in reassurance. "Why? So you can go out with
Amy instead?" asked Sparx, a little more harsh than intended. Once she
said it, she regretted it. "Mabye, mabye not." replied Psycho evenly.
He let her hand go. She looked at him, and realized that he was right.
"You're right Psy, breaking up would be best. But..." she paused, a
smile beginning to show on her face, "we still gonna be friends and hang
out?" "But of course madame, I'd have it no other way!" said Psycho,
satisfied that Sparx had taken it so well. They walked downstairs, and
told Ace and amy about what they had talked about. Although Ace and Amy
were a little surprised, they had known that it was coming for a while
now. To lighten the mood, Ace spoke up; "How's about we go outside to
get a bit 'o fresh air?" he suggested. Everyone agreed, and they all filed
out through the door. It was pitch black outside, so Ace made a torch out
of a fallen tree. Sparx edged away from the group, and with the torch
providing illumination, she climed up the nearest maple tree. Within
minutes, Sparx heard rustling in the branches below her, and she was able
to see Amy climbing up. "Oh, great...." mumbled Sparx under her
breath. She folded her arms across her chest. "Hey Sparx, I feel
terrible. I mean, I feel like I'm responsible for you and Psy breaking
up...." said Amy as she carefully placed herself beside Sparx on the tree
branch. There was a long silence. Even though Amy was a couple of years
younger than Sparx, her words struck the echidna. Sparx finally answered,
"No Amy, it's not your fault. It's not anybody's fault." A chilly wind cut
through the air. Sparx felt goosebumps all over her body. "Despite all
this, I'd like it if we could be friends." said Amy, with a more jovial
attitude than before. Sparx was about to reply, when she felt a small
tremor beneath the tree they were sitting in. The tremors grew worse, and
the ground beneath the tree split open, ripping the roots from the tree,
and swallowed Amy and Sparx into the dark chasm that had just opened up.
Psycho and Ace were sitting on a small rock outcropping, a few feet
away from Psycho's house. "She seemed to take it well." observed Ace.
Psycho nodded as he replied; "It looks like it, and I hope that she
can find someone better, someone with whom the relationship will last."
Ace smiled, and looked over at the tree that Amy and Sparx were sitting
on. Instantly he knew something was wrong. He saw them envelopped by the
ground, and before he could do anything, him and Psycho were also
swallowed by the ground. Ace was about to teleport him and Psy to safety,
when he hit his head on a ledge, and fell unconscious. Above all of this,
mere feet from the new formed gorge, Psycho's house stood, unconcerned and
unmoved by the events just passed.
Hours later, Sparx awoke with a splitting headache. Amy was tending to
a gash on Sparx's forehead. "I'm glad that I had a first-aid kit on
me." commented Amy as she put a final bandage on Sparx's forehead. "There,
all done." "Ugh...thanks Amy, I owe you one...but just one question,
how comeI'm hurt, and you're not?" asked Sparx as she struggled to get up.
Amy helped her to a sitting position. She blushed as she said; "Well,
I couldn't help it, but I accidentally landed on you." She put a hand on
Sparx's head to straighten out the echidna's lush red hair. It fell into
it's natural position. Sparx stood up, although she still felt a bit
woozy. She reached into her pocket, and took out her pokéball. She pressed
the button on it, and out popped Pikachu. "Pika-pipi!" cried the small
creature. "What the heck is that thing?" Amy asked as she stared at
pikachu. "This is Pikachu, he's a pokémon. I thought he'd be able to
help us get out, " replied Sparx, "Pikachu, go scout ahead, and see if you
can find a way out!" Pikachu took off up the steep incline, and quickly
vanished. Finally, Sparx took a look at her surroundings. They were on a
small ledge, about 2 metres by 5 metres, with a steep wall/incline on 3
sides, and a drop-off on the remaining side. Sparx kicked a pebble off the
edge, and waited for an indication of a bottom to the dark pit. After a
few minutes, they heard a faint 'ping' sound. "Ouch, that's a long
fall." observed Amy as the two girls backed closer to the wall. They heard
scratching sounds above them, and small pebbles fell down. As they
shielded their eyes, Sparx and Amy looked up and saw Pikachu scrambling
down the wall. "Geez, that was incredibly fast!" commmented Amy.
Pikachu leaped into Sparx's arms. "Apart from electricity, his
speciality is speed." replied Sparx. Then, suddenly, her pikachu began
chattering. "Pikachu, chuuuuuu, pika...ka!" he said as he waved his
arms frantically. "He says that if we climb up, there'll eventually be
a tunnel which lead to the surface." Sparx said as Pikachu returned to
it's pokéball. "You understood him?" questioned Amy a little
skeptically. 'Of course, but only a pokémon's trainer can understand
him." replied Sparx, "well, I'm able to scale that wall no problem, but
I'm not so sure about you." "You're right, I'm not at all able to
climb anything that steep!" Amy whistled a low whistle a low whistle as
she again looked upwards. "Well then, hold onto me as I climb, so
there shouldn't be any problem." replied Sparx with a smile. Amy did as
suggested and climbed on Sparx's back. The tall, strong echidna than began
climbing. It was a slow and long climb. They were about half way up, when
they stopped. Amy looked, and saw that Sparx's eyes were closed as if she
was in great pain. "Sparx, what's wrong?" questioned Amy. The pink
hedgehog noticed that the gash on Sparx's head had reopened. Holding on to
Sparx with only her legs, Amy balanced as she retrieved her first aid kit.
She re-wrapped some gauze tightly around Sparx's head. The pain started to
subside, and Sparx managed to say; "Thanks Amy!" They continued their
asencion. To pass the time (and to keep their minds off of pain and fear)
they began singing. It soulded like two angels delivering an angelic hymm.
The only difference was that they weren't singing a hymm. Further down
the "hole", and on the opposite side, Ace and Psycho awoke to hear angels
singing. "We've died and gone to heaven!" screamed Ace. He stood, and
brushed the dust off himself. He surmised that the rock had broken
somewhere above them. Psycho smacked Ace in the head. "We're not in
heaven, you moron, if we had died, I'd be in hell. Remember, that's where
I came from." grumbled Psycho. Psy looked up, and to his surprise, he saw
Sparx and Amy standing on the top of the gargantuan wall. He breathed a
sigh of relief. "Phew, they're allright!" exclaimed Psy as he began to
fly up. Ace looked at him, snickered, and teleported them to the exact
location on which Amy and Sparx were standing. The singing stopped as the
girls saw Psycho and Ace standing in front of them. "Thank God you're
allright!" exclaimed Sparx, "now, let's get the hell outta here!" With a
nod of his head, Ace used the last of his stength to teleport everyone to
their respective huts.
ONE MONTH LATER:
Well, the news is now official, Psycho and Amy were going out, as are
Sparx and Ace.
Sparx was just returning from having dinner with Ace and her parents.
Lily and Owen approuved of Ace, and gave Ace their blessings. She entered
her hut, and to her surprise, she saw an orange fox with green eyes,
chatting amicably with Roxy and Snowy. Noticing that Sparx had returned,
Roxy stood, so did the other fox. "Sparx, remember her, this is my
cousin, C--" said Roxy who was cut short by Sparx. "Cortex!!!!!"
yelled Sparx as she rushed to give her longtime friend a hug, "longtime no
see!" "Yes, it has been a long time, " Cortex's face took on a
thoughtful expression, "at least five years". Sparx looked Cortex over,
and nodded approuvingly. "Time's treated you well." she observed.
'You too!" replied Cortex. Her green knee-high boots matched well with
the green jewel on her forehead and her green vest. All four furries
resumed their conversation in the comfort of the licing room, with
'Duckman' blaring in the background.
