Level Select
Level Select / Debug: After the Sega logo turns black, press Up Up Down Down Up Up Up Up - this has to be timed correctly.
If you did it right, you'll hear a Ring sound, and SOUND TEST will be an option under Competitionfor debug mode, press A+Start on the level select

Level Select
Before the title screen comes on, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up, Up, Up. It's hard do do since you have to do it so fast to beat the title screen appearing. You will also be able to hear music from the levels in Sonic & Knuckles from the Sonic 3 level select sound test menu.
